What is a Sill Plate?

A Sill Plate is a shutter frame designed specifically for a window sill. A window sill will not allow for the traditional Z-Frame to wrap around the edges, so a sill plate is made to sit on top of the sill. All other sides of the frame (top, left and right) are made in the selected Z-frame, see an example of this below.

Sill plates can be secured into the window sill through screws just like the other frame sides. More fragile window sills, like marble or tile , can be super glued if cracking/breaking the sill is a concern.
