Collection: Bamboo Shades

Bamboo shades made to your window size

Bamboo shades bring the one thing most window treatments cannot: a material that was alive. Real bamboo, reed, jute, and grass are woven into a flexible fabric that keeps the grain, the knots, and the color shifts of the raw stalk, so the light coming through is dappled and warm rather than flat. A bamboo shade does for a window what a jute rug does for a floor.

Bamboo is also about as sustainable as a window covering gets. It is a grass, not a hardwood, and it regrows in a few years rather than a few decades, so the shade on your window did not cost a tree.

The weave is open by nature, which is what makes it beautiful and also what makes a liner worth thinking about. An unlined bamboo shade filters light and gives some privacy in daylight, but you will see shapes through it after dark with the lights on. Add a light filtering liner for real daytime privacy, or a blackout liner if the shade is going in a bedroom.
