A bamboo shade is the warmest thing you can hang in a window, and on its own it is also one of the brightest. An unlined woven shade is roughly half see-through, which is lovely in a living room at noon and no help at all in a bedroom at six in the morning. A blackout bamboo shade fixes that by putting a 100% blackout liner behind the weave, so the room side keeps the texture of bamboo, jute or reed while the daylight stays outside. Every shade here is made to the width and height you measure and shipped direct to you.
Which blackout bamboo shades and blinds to choose
Woven wood shades are the core of this page. Every woven material we offer can take a liner, and when you choose one, the shade and its valance are both lined, so there is no bright strip across the top. The blackout liner comes in nine colors: white, off white, light gray, cream, camel, taupe, dark gray, dark brown and black. A pale liner looks soft and neutral from the street, while a dark liner disappears behind deeper weaves like jute and keeps the look consistent from inside.
You also choose how the liner is attached. An attached liner is fixed permanently behind the woven fabric, which is the clean, simple choice for a bedroom that just needs to go dark. A movable liner is a second, separately operated layer behind the shade, so you can lower the bamboo alone for texture during the day and bring down the blackout layer at night. It needs a deeper headrail, about 3 1/8 inches, and it cannot be combined with top down bottom up.
Blackout roman shades sit alongside them for anyone who wants the same soft horizontal folds in a solid blackout fabric rather than a natural weave. Woven wood samples let you see the weaves in your own light before you order.
Sizes, lifts and the limits that matter
Woven wood shades are built up to 96 inches wide on every lift system. For a wider window, two or more shades can share one headrail up to 118 inches in total, although a single common valance still stops at 96 inches. Height depends on the lift: cordless reaches 106 inches, while clutch loop, wand and motorized shades reach 118 inches.
Minimum widths vary as well. Clutch loop starts at 11 3/4 inches, the standard DC motor at 12 3/4 inches, cordless at 19 3/4 inches, wand control at 24 5/8 inches, and the lithium and AC motors at 25 1/4 inches. Motorized woven shades run from a remote, a wall switch or an app, and work with Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomePod.
Two practical notes. Natural fibers do not suit high humidity, so a blackout bamboo shade belongs in a bedroom, nursery or media room rather than over a shower. And the valance grows with the shade: 6 inches tall on shades up to 59 inches high, 8 inches up to 86 5/8 inches, and 12 inches above that.
Measuring and installing it yourself
For an inside mount, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the opening and use the smallest figure, rounded down to the nearest 1/8 inch. Measure the height on both sides the same way. Then check the depth: woven wood needs at least 1 5/8 inches of frame depth to mount inside, and 2 5/8 inches to sit flush on most lifts, or 2 1/8 inches for cordless. Give us your exact measurements, because the factory applies the small width deduction itself.
If your frame is shallow, or you want the room as dark as possible, an outside mount that overlaps the frame on each side is worth considering, since light around the edges is what you notice most in a dark room. The mounting brackets are compact, 1 3/8 by 1 3/4 inches, so they sit neatly on the frame or the wall above it.
Not sure which weave suits which liner? Order a few woven wood samples and hold them up at the window in morning light before you choose.

How do I measure for my shades?
Choose an inside or outside mount first, then follow our shade measuring guide. Measure each window individually before entering your width and height on the product page.
Should I choose light filtering or blackout?
Light filtering fabric softens daylight. Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, while light can still enter around the edges. Your mount and any side tracks affect the final result. Solar and unlined woven fabrics have different privacy characteristics, so check the product details.
Can I add a motor?
Open the product configurator to see the controls and motor options offered for that shade. Motor and smart-home compatibility vary by product and the motor you select.
