Faux wood blinds are the window covering most people picture when they think of blinds: horizontal slats that tilt to steer light and close for privacy, with the painted look of wood. They are a common choice for a whole house refresh because the same blind can go in a bedroom, an office and a family room and the windows still read as one set. This page groups the made-to-measure faux wood blinds we sell, along with the two products shoppers most often compare them against.
Faux wood, real wood, or a woven wood shade
Faux wood blinds lead this page. You choose the size, color and configuration for each window on the product page, and each blind is made to your measurements. Faux wood blinds are also part of our cordless range, so a slatted blind does not have to mean a cord hanging down the side of the window.
Wood blinds sit beside them for anyone who wants real wood at the window. The two look alike from across a room, so the choice usually comes down to finish and how the blind sits with the rest of the room. If your floors or furniture are a stained wood, real wood blinds can pick up that tone. If your trim is painted, a painted faux wood slat tends to blend into it.
Woven wood shades are here for the shopper who wants a natural, wood-toned window without slats. They raise in soft folds instead of stacking, and the weave gives texture rather than lines.
A few design notes. White and off white slats against white trim make a window recede, which suits a small room or a busy wall. Darker slats frame the view and work well when the window is a feature. On a run of windows, keep the slat color the same across the room even if the window sizes change.
Sizing and specifications
Slat sizes, size limits and lift options for our faux wood and wood blinds are set on each product page as you configure the blind, so check the options there for your window before you order. If a window is unusually wide, narrow or tall, send us the measurements and we will confirm what can be built.
Woven wood shades have documented limits. Every lift system tops out at 96 inches wide. A wider opening can take more than one shade on a single headrail, up to 118 inches in total, though a shared valance still stops at 96 inches. Cordless woven wood runs from 19 3/4 inches wide and up to 106 inches high, while clutch loop and motorized lifts reach 118 inches high. For an inside mount you need at least 1 5/8 inches of frame depth, and 2 5/8 inches for the shade to sit flush. Natural woven fabric is not suited to bathrooms or other humid rooms, where moisture can warp the weave.
Measuring and installing them yourself
For an inside mount, measure the width of the opening at the top, middle and bottom and use the smallest figure, rounded down to the nearest 1/8 inch. Measure the height on both sides the same way, then check the depth of the frame. Give us the exact opening rather than taking anything off yourself. On woven wood we take the width deduction at the factory.
Measure every window, even ones that look identical. Two windows in the same wall can differ by a fraction of an inch, and a made-to-measure blind is built to the number you send.
Faux wood blinds are an easy way to give every window in the house the same clean look, and buying them made to measure means every window gets a blind that fits its own opening. Order samples if you want to see a color in your own light, then send your sizes and we will make each blind and ship it direct to your door.

How do I measure for my shades?
Choose an inside or outside mount first, then follow our shade measuring guide. Measure each window individually before entering your width and height on the product page.
Should I choose light filtering or blackout?
Light filtering fabric softens daylight. Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, while light can still enter around the edges. Your mount and any side tracks affect the final result. Solar and unlined woven fabrics have different privacy characteristics, so check the product details.
Can I add a motor?
Open the product configurator to see the controls and motor options offered for that shade. Motor and smart-home compatibility vary by product and the motor you select.
