Cellular shades are often the covering on the windows that are hardest to reach: the wide window behind a bed, the one over a tub or a deep counter, or a whole row of windows that someone has to walk along every morning and night. Motorized cellular shades and blinds raise and lower at the press of a button, with no chain or cord at the window. You can run one shade or several from a remote, and with a hub you can add app and voice control and set them to open and close on a schedule. This page brings together the Coverly cellular shades you can order with a motor.

Which motorized cellular shades and blinds to choose

Blackout cellular shades are built for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, where you want the room dark on cue. A motor makes it easy to close every bedroom shade at once at night.

Light filtering cellular shades soften daylight and give you privacy while the room stays bright. They suit living rooms, kitchens and home offices.

Both are made with a 38 mm honeycomb cell and can be motorized in three ways. A standard shade lifts from the bottom. A top down bottom up shade lets you lower the top for daylight while the bottom stays closed for privacy. A day and night shade pairs a sheer with your chosen fabric on one headrail. Top down bottom up and day and night shades use two motors, because both rails move on their own.

Each shade comes with a battery motor or a plug-in motor and a remote. A multi-channel remote lets you run several shades together or one at a time. Add a standard WiFi hub for app and voice control, or a Matter WiFi hub if your home runs on Apple Home. A solar charger is available for the battery motor.

For a calm look across a bedroom, use the same fabric color on every window and choose blackout only where you sleep. A light filtering shade in the same color on a nearby window will match in daylight.

Sizes and limits for motorized cellular shades

The motor sits in the headrail, and that sets the size range. A motorized cellular shade starts at 23 inches wide and 12 inches high. It can be made up to 126 inches wide in a single shade, which covers most wide bedroom and living room windows without a split.

Height is the limit to watch. Motorized cellular shades stop at 79 inches high. If your window is taller than that, choose a bead chain cellular shade, which reaches 157 inches of drop, or a cordless one, which reaches 94 inches. If your window is narrower than 23 inches, a cordless cellular shade can be made from 12 inches wide.

Measuring and installing it yourself

Choose an inside or outside mount first. For an inside mount, measure the opening and send us the exact size; the shade is made about 1/4 inch narrower than the opening so it clears the frame. For an outside mount, add about 3 7/8 inches to both the width and the height so the shade overlaps the opening and blocks more light at the edges. If you would rather not drill, a no-drill mount is available on our cellular line.

When you order, tell us which side you want the motor on and how many shades should share each remote channel. Plan for an outlet near the window if you choose the plug-in motor.

Every motorized cellular shade on this page is made to the measurements you send and shipped direct to your door. Order a sample first to compare blackout and light filtering fabric in your own light.

How do I measure for my shades?

Choose an inside or outside mount first, then follow our shade measuring guide. Measure each window individually before entering your width and height on the product page.

Should I choose light filtering or blackout?

Light filtering fabric softens daylight. Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, while light can still enter around the edges. Your mount and any side tracks affect the final result. Solar and unlined woven fabrics have different privacy characteristics, so check the product details.

Can I add a motor?

Open the product configurator to see the controls and motor options offered for that shade. Motor and smart-home compatibility vary by product and the motor you select.
